Theatricals 2010!

Last year, evam, a well-established theatre and entertainment company teamed up with Airtel to start a youth drive called “Airtel Theatricals” with the objective of promoting the spirit of entrepreneurship and self belief amongst students using theatre as the catalyst for such a change. Picking up where we left off last year, this year’s edition is promising to be much more competitive, lively and wholesome, as we invite 45 colleges from all over Tamil Nadu to showcase their skills in drama and entrepreneurship in a competition spread over 3 months. For this drive - we have created an exclusive audition – workshop series leading up to a “youth drama festival”, comprising of zonal competitions at three centres namely Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai and culminating in a red carpet award ceremony in Chennai.

The event aims to introduce students to theatre and entrepreneurship collectively where they will not only script and present a 30 min. play all by themselves but also run the whole event like a business by handling marketing and pricing and sales of tickets for their show, etc. Airtel Theatricals powered by evam aims to creating a platform for theatre, which is accessible and open to the youth, giving them an opportunity to create and present something through team-work and more importantly a learning experience that is priceless!
